Abstract: L'enseignement d'une langue étrangère constitue aujourd'hui une discipline à part entière de l'école primaire. Au cycle 3, le choix de l'approche communicative est largement dominant et les enseignants – dans la perspective de réactiver le processus d'acquisition linguistique – privilégient l'exposition à l'input linguistique et favorisent un apprentissage implicite de la L2. Dans la classe, cette orientation se concrétise par un apprentissage linguistique basé sur la répétition et l'imitation. Notre recherche expérimentale tente de légitimer le choix délibéré d'une approche analytique et consciente du système oral de la langue qui, seule, permet aux jeunes apprenants de se défaire des habitudes contractées en langue maternelle, de découvrir un nouvel univers phonologique et de (re)construire du sens. ; Foreign language learning is part of the primary curriculum in France today. In the upper primary classes, the choice of the communicative approach is widely advocated and, in hopes of reactivating the L1 acquisition process, most teachers favor implicit learning, and lots of exposure to linguistic input. In the language class this orientation results in a learning process which is based mainly on imitation and repetition. Our research aims at validating a more explicit approach, including conscious analysis of the target-language pronunciation system. such an approach may enable young learners to overcome the habits they have naturally acquired in their L1, to discover a new phonological system and to (re)construct meaning.
