|
Abstract:
Cross-cultural research can be an essential bridge for bringing societies and cultures in different lands together. Thus it can promote a global village in which cultural understanding is important for co-existence. There are many risks and challenges in cross-cultural research. This chapter attempts to raise the awareness of some challenges facing researchers, particularly for those who have little intercultural experience. Many issues and problems facing researchers can easily lead to confusion, frustration and hostility. This chapter focuses on the following aspects: linguistic interference, research methodology in cultural practices, and inter/intra-cultural awareness on research ethics.
