Abstract: It is analyzed how metonymy predetermines the structure of the informal interview text, its unfolding in the context of interactive communication of interlocutors, as well as the discourse integrity of participants of informal communication in terms of generating meaning, decision-making and resolution of the issues under discussion. Informal interview is interpreted in our publication as a sphere of interaction of interlocutors’ discourses, which is structured and conceptually organized based on metonymy as a cognitive mechanism that provides access to the spontaneous comparison of non-linguistic facts within one conceptual house. Acting as a cognitive mechanism of informal interview unfolding, metonymy turns out to be an essential characteristic of cognitions embodied in the background, underlines the speech actions of the interlocutors and the justification of these actions in accordance with the models of the part and the whole ratio.
