Abstract:
Lorsque l'on s'adresse à une personne qui ne maîtrise pas bien notre langue, on a tendance à modifier notre façon de parler afin de mieux se faire comprendre de notre interlocuteur, ce que l'on appelle le foreigner talk (Long, 1980). Il semblerait également que l'on adapte notre gestuelle (Adams, 1998). Cependant, les gestes produits par les natifs ne sont pas toujours facilitants pour le non natif. Qu'en est-il des futurs enseignants de langue? Ont-ils également recours à une gestuelle peu facilitante ou sont-ils davantage sensibilisés aux stratégies verbales et gestuelles qu'ils peuvent utiliser pour aider un non natif dans l'accès au sens ? En un mot, arrivent-ils à passer du langage adressé à l'étranger à un langage d'enseignant ? Dans l'étude présentée ici, des étudiants de Master FLE doivent faire deviner des mots de vocabulaire français à des partenaires natifs et non natifs. Nous analyserons les stratégies verbales et gestuelles mises en œuvre par les futurs enseignants dans l'explication d'un verbe d'action. Nous mettrons tout particulièrement l'accent sur l'analyse des gestes utilisés par les sujets afin de montrer comment leur forme est influencée par le niveau de compétence langagière de l'interlocuteur auquel ils sont adressés.
