Abstract:
National audience ; Cette étude comportementale réalisée en champ visuel divisé chez des sujets sains a pour but de mettre en évidence la prédominance hémisphérique pour le traitement phonologique du langage à travers deux tâches : détection de rimes et détection de phonèmes dans des pseudo-mots. L'effet de deux variables supplémentaires, le genre des participants (variable intersujets) et le degré de transparence graphophonémique (variable " psycholinguistique " intrasujet), a été évalué. Plus précisément, nous souhaitons déterminer les types de stimuli et de tâches qui induisent une participation accrue de l'hémisphère dominant pour le traitement phonologique du langage. Nos résultats montrent une prédominance hémisphérique gauche lors de la réalisation des deux tâches phonologiques. Le degré de cette prédominance est modulé par le type de conversion graphophonémique de stimuli (régulière ou irrégulière) et varie selon le genre des participants et selon la tâche à réaliser. Pour la détection de phonèmes, la prédominance hémisphérique gauche chez les hommes est plus marquée pour les stimuli nécessitant une conversion irrégulière que régulière, tandis qu'il n'y a pas de modulation du degré de spécialisation hémisphérique gauche chez les femmes. Pour la détection de rimes, la prédominance hémisphérique gauche chez les hommes et chez les femmes n'est pas affectée par le type de conversion graphophonémique. Ces résultats suggèrent que les deux tâches phonologiques explorées diffèrent en termes de processus impliqués. Pour traiter les stimuli nécessitant une conversion graphophonémique régulière, les deux hémisphères sont équipotents mais les stratégies mobilisées diffèrent selon la tâche, impliquant un traitement verbal pour l'hémisphère gauche et visuel pour l'hémisphère droit. Pour traiter les stimuli nécessitant une conversion graphophonémique irrégulière, un des deux hémisphères doit être spécialisé dans le langage et il est prédominant pour réaliser le traite- ment de ces stimuli.
