Abstract:
Η ανάγνωση είναι μία πολύπλοκη γνωστική διαδικασία που στηρίζεται στην ανάπτυξη της αποκωδικοποίησης και της κατανόησης ενώ αντανακλά πλήθος ικανοτήτων και δεξιοτήτων (McNamara & Kendeou, 2011· Vellutino, Fletcher, Snowling, & Scanlon, 2004). Στόχος της διαχρονικής αυτής μελέτης ήταν να μελετηθεί η συνεισφορά της εργαζόμενης μνήμης και των επιτελικών λειτουργιών στην αναγνωστική ικανότητα παιδιών σε ένα διαφανές ορθογραφικό αλφαβητικό σύστημα, όπως το ελληνικό. Διερευνήθηκε αν οι επιδόσεις των παιδιών σε έργα (α) εργαζόμενης μνήμης και (β) επιτελικών λειτουργιών στο νηπιαγωγείο αποτελούν προβλεπτικούς παράγοντες της αναγνωστικής τους ικανότητας στο τέλος της Α’ Δημοτικού. Οι μετρήσεις της εργαζόμενης μνήμης και των επιτελικών λειτουργιών διεξήχθησαν όταν τα παιδιά φοιτούσαν στο νηπιαγωγείο (N = 58, Μ.Ο. = 70,7, εύρος = 66–77, Τ.Α. = 2,96). Στο τέλος της Α’ δημοτικού (M.O. = 81,9, εύρος = 76–89, Τ.Α. = 3,31), επαναξιολογήθηκε η εργαζόμενη μνήμη και οι επιτελικές λειτουργίες και εκτιμήθηκε η ... : Reading is a complicated process that depends on the development of decoding and comprehension and reflects different underlying abilities and skills (MacNamara & Kendeou, 2011; Vellutino, Fletcher, Snowling, & Scanlon, 2004). The present study examined contributions of working memory and executive operations to children’s reading ability in a transparent orthographic system. We investigated whether (i) working memory and (ii) executive functions performance in kindergarten would predict children’s reading performance (decoding, fluency, syntactic ability, and comprehension) at the end of grade 1. A total of 58 preschool children (24 girls and 34 boys) participated and were assessed twice during the study: at the end of kindergarten (mean age=70.7 months; range = 66–77 months; SD = 2.96) and at the end of grade 1 (mean age = 81.9 months; range = 76–89; SD = 3.31).
