Zugrunde liegt die Annahme, dass Bildungserfolg maßgeblich durch den Erwerb von Literalität geprägt wird. In leitfadengestützten Interviews wurden Schüler*innen aus Syrien befragt, die das Abitur anstreben, noch nicht in der Sekundarstufe II sind und die vor der Befragung in Berlin eine Regelklasse besucht haben. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Schüler*innen nach Bildung streben und es gewohnt sind, viel auswendig zu lernen. An einem Beispiel kann man sehen, dass ein hohes Maß an Literalität ein Erfolgsfaktor für die Fortsetzung eines höheren Bildungsweges sein kann. Jedoch unterliegt Literalität in Syrien und in Deutschland unterschiedlichen gesellschaftlichen Kontexten. Den Schilderungen zufolge ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Inhalten von Texten nicht erwünscht und nicht erforderlich. Bei Prüfungen geht es darum, zuvor auswendig gelerntes wiederzugeben. Daher ist ein Transfer der ... : This work takes a closer look at the success in education of recently immigrated Syrian students with high academic goals. The basic assumption is that success in education is essentially driven by the acquisition of literacy. Guideline-based interviews were conducted with students from Syria who are aiming to graduate high school but are not yet in a higher secondary level, and had attended a regular class in Berlin before being interviewed. The results show that the students are aspiring for education and they are used to memorizing a lot. One example shows that a high level of literacy can be a factor for success in the continuing of a higher education goal. However, literacy in Syria and Germany is embedded in different social contexts. According to the descriptions, an occupation with the content of texts is neither wanted nor necessary. Exams are about the reproduction of content that was memorized beforehand. Therefore, a transfer of text competence from one language into the other is not possible. It ...
