Abstract:
В обучении модальным глаголам в английском языке формально уделяется недостаточно времени на мета-анализ основных модальных глаголов и их форм. Студенты-дипломники (причем это касается даже студентов языковых или лингвистических факультетов) зачастую все еще нетвердо ориентируются в тонкостях различий как форм, так и значений этих глаголов. Студенты могут употреблять подобные конструкции рефлекторно правильно, но нередко не в состоянии увидеть общую связь, которая четко объясняет оттенки значения, семантические границы и общий узус употребления каждой формы. В данном случае мы говорим не о всех модальных глаголах, но о наиболее важных и широкоупотребимых их представителях и заместителях, то есть CAN/COULD, MUST, HAVE TO, NEED, TO BE ABLE TO, SHOULD. Именно различия в значениях разных форм этих глаголов и вызывают проблемы как в их обучении, так и понимании (и, соответственно, в воспроизведении). Во введении статья кратко определяет проблемы, цели и задачи, а также очерчивает круг обсуждаемых глагольных форм. ... : In teaching modal verbs of the English language, not enough time is formally dedicated to a meta-analysis of the main modal verbs and their forms. Senior students (and this applies even to students of linguistics or those majoring in subjects requiring advanced professional knowledge of English) are often not well versed in the intricacies of the differences in both the forms and meanings of these verbs. Students can use such constructions correctly as part of a linguistic learned reflex, but often are not able to see a common connection, which clearly explains the shades of meaning, semantic boundaries and the general usage pattern of each form. Here we are not talking about all modal verbs, but about the most important and widely used representatives of their class, that is, CAN/COULD, MUST, HAVE TO, NEED, TO BE ABLE TO, SHOULD.
