El lenguaje del cuerpo en la danza urbana: Panorama actual del discurso dancístico popular en España

Abstract:
El lenguaje se entiende como un sistema de comunicación cuyos significados sociales son codificados por palabras y por situaciones, es decir, dependen de un sistema de valores sociales. De ahí la importancia de los estudios culturales, que exploran aquellas formas de producción o creación de significados en las distintas sociedades. Los significados sociales del lenguaje artístico también se codifican y se estudian de igual forma, en tanto que este sistema de comunicación, en continua interacción con la cultura, se va transformando a través de los tiempos por la incorporación de nuevos sujetos sociales y nuevas identidades culturales; es decir, los lenguajes y las culturas evolucionan con los años. Los nuevos procesos de reestructuración cultural en el contexto de la posmodernidad o modernidad tardía reflejan en la actualidad una nueva redefinición del constructo identitario. El posmodernismo defiende la cultura popular, la descentralización de la autoridad intelectual y científica, y la desconfianza ante la “verdad” representada como algo universal. Por otro lado, promueve la autoafirmación individual, originando el pluralismo y la diversidad, y busca los intereses de los menos favorecidos por ideologías modernas que están supeditadas a estructuras políticas y sociales dominantes. Por esto, las prácticas socioculturales populares se convierten en nuevas formas de expresión, ya sean musicales, dancísticas, lingüísticas o simbólicas. Muchas de estas prácticas expresan la crítica de un sistema cultural predeterminado y permiten una nueva alternativa sociológica, una creciente subcultura que con tiempos de crisis se engrandece y manifiesta en todas sus vertientes artísticas como una reacción popular. En este estudio la danza urbana es entendida como aquella danza popular que se desarrolla y evoluciona fuera de las instituciones oficiales de danza y/o academias dancísticas. Stearns (1994) las definió como aquellas danzas vernáculas, en un contexto urbano, que se desarrollan naturalmente como parte de la cultura “diaria” de un colectivo particular. El término “danza urbana” es aplicado a ciertas danzas populares importadas, principalmente de Estados Unidos y Jamaica. Parte de ellas se originaron en los años setenta, pero su recepción en España fue a partir de los años ochenta. Este estudio se centra en los diversos discursos de la danza urbana desde una perspectiva antropológica y social. Los objetivos de esta tesis se centran en clasificar la nomenclatura básica (de pasos y/o técnicas) en cada uno de los discursos dancísticos urbanos a través del conocimiento del movimiento del cuerpo de los danzantes, estudiar en profundidad el perfil de los danzantes que practican las distintas danzas en España y crear nuevas líneas de investigación en este ámbito. La investigación se ha dividido en dos líneas: la primera, se ocupa de estudiar cada discurso dancístico urbano bailado en España, y se ha basado en el estudio del cuerpo y su movimiento. Para llevarla a cabo se ha utilizado la metodología cualitativa, y se ha hecho una clasificación y un análisis descriptivo de cada una de las danzas urbanas mediante la observación directa de los pasos y/o técnicas más representativas de ellas. La segunda línea de investigación se centra en el panorama actual que ocupan las danzas urbanas en España y del perfil de sus danzantes, y se ha usado para la obtención de resultados la metodología cualitativa y la cuantitativa a través del tratamiento de los datos obtenidos de entrevistas y cuestionarios. En España se han clasificado un total de once discursos dancísticos urbanos, los cuáles se engloban dentro de los términos culturales del Hip Hop, de la “cultura club” y de la cultura jamaicana. Cada vez se incrementa más el número de danzantes interesados en aprender nuevas formas de danza urbana que visionan en los medios de comunicación, y esta masificación hace que se haya convertido en un producto de moda que lucha constantemente por tener el reconocimiento y el respeto dentro del marco educativo y escénico español. ; Language is understood as a communication system whose social meanings are encoded by words and situations, that is, they depend on a system of social values. Hence the importance of cultural studies, which explore those forms of production or creation of meanings in different societies. The social meanings of artistic language are also codified and studied in the same way, while this communication system, in continuous interaction with culture, is transformed through time by the incorporation of new social subjects and new cultural identities; that is, languages and cultures evolve over the years. The new processes of cultural restructuring in the context of postmodernity or late modernity currently reflect a new redefinition of the identity construct. Postmodernism defends popular culture, decentralization of intellectual and scientific authority, and distrust of "truth" represented as something universal. On the other hand, it promotes individual self-affirmation, originating pluralism and diversity, and seeks the interests of those less favored by modern ideologies that are subordinated to dominant political and social structures. For this reason, popular sociocultural practices become new forms of expression, be they musical, dance, linguistic or symbolic. Many of these practices express the criticism of a predetermined cultural system and allow a new sociological alternative, a growing subculture that in times of crisis is magnified and manifested in all its artistic aspects as a popular reaction. In this study urban dance is understood as that popular dance that develops and evolves outside the official dance institutions and / or dance academies. Stearns (1994) defined them as those vernacular dances, in an urban context, that develop naturally as part of the "daily" culture of a particular collective. The term "urban dance" is applied to certain imported folk dances, mainly from the United States and Jamaica. Some of them originated in the seventies, but their reception in Spain was from the eighties. This study focuses on the different discourses of urban dance from an anthropological and social perspective. The objectives of this thesis are focused on classifying the basic nomenclature (steps and / or techniques) in each of the urban dance discourses through the knowledge of the movement of the body of the dancers, to study in depth the profile of the dancers who practice the different dances in Spain and create new lines of research in this field. The research has been divided into two lines: the first deals with the study of every urban dance discourse danced in Spain, and has been based on the study of the body and its movement. In order to carry it out, the qualitative methodology has been used, and a classification and a descriptive analysis of each of the urban dances has been made by direct observation of the most representative steps or techniques of them. The second line of research focuses on the current panorama of urban dances in Spain and the profile of their dancers, and qualitative and quantitative methodology has been used to obtain results through the treatment of data obtained from interviews and questionnaires. In Spain a total of eleven urban dance discourses have been classified, which are included within the cultural terms of Hip Hop, the "club culture" and the Jamaican culture. The number of dancers interested in learning new forms of urban dance that they watch in the media is increasing more and more, and this massification has turned it into a fashionable product that constantly fights to have the recognition and respect within the educational and scenic Spanish frame.
