Abstract:
Ce texte porte sur la représentation politique des francophones à la Ville d’Ottawa de 2000 à 2010 et questionne, de façon exploratoire, les rapports de force existant à l’Hôtel de ville. Pour ce faire, les auteures présentent un portrait de la situation démo-géographique des francophones à Ottawa, permettant de définir quatre types de quartiers : populeux, francophones, linguistiquement variés et anglophones. Cette typologie est ensuite utilisée pour présenter et discuter les données électorales qui permettent de conclure à une forte territorialisation et à une grande stabilité de la représentation politique francophone. Ces résultats permettront de mieux comprendre comment les intérêts francophones sont portés au conseil municipal et par la suite traités. ; This text focuses on the political representation of Francophones in the city of Ottawa from 2000 to 2010, and questions, in an exploratory fashion, the current power relations at City Hall. The authors present a portrait of the demo-geographic situation of Francophones in Ottawa, allowing the identification of four types of neighbourhood: populous, Francophone, linguistically varied, and Anglophone. This classification is then used to present and discuss the electoral statistics that allow the conclusion of a strong territorialisation and stability of Francophone political representation. These results grant a better understanding of how francophone interests are brought to and dealt with by the municipal council.
