Fischer, Felix. - : kopaed, 2017 Abstract: Mit dem „linguistic turn" vollzog die empirische Sozialwissenschaft einen großen Sprung in Richtung Objektivierung. Damit ging jedoch eine Marginalisierung des Bildes einher, das erst mit dem „pictorial turn" (MITCHELL 1994) wieder langsam an Bedeutung gewann. Gerade in einer visuell durchdrungenen Gesellschaft wie der unseren, in der Bilder weitgehende Bereiche des Lebens bestimmen, sollte sich vor allem auch die Medienpädagogik mit diesem Wandel hin zu einer visuellen Kommunikation adäquat auseinandersetzen. Die Objektive Hermeneutik vermag zur Beschreibung und zur Klärung der Implikationen dieses Wandels einen wertvollen Beitrag zu leisten, um latente Sinn- und objektive Bedeutungsstrukturen herauszuarbeiten. Unter inhaltlicher Bezugnahme einer Qualifikationsarbeit wird die Methode an einem US-amerikanischen Profilfoto (einer Sozialen Netzwerkseite mit visuellem Schwerpunkt) verdeutlicht, wobei zuvor die Objektive Hermeneutik (OEVERMANN) und die Segmentanalyse (BRECKNER) grundlegend und später auf ... : Since the "linguistic turn", the social sciences have taken a major step towards establishing an objective research tradition. However, this process has witnessed the increasing marginalization of pictures as a medium which had only just begun to regain a degree of importance as a consequence of the somewhat later "pictorial turn" (MITCHELL 1994). The crucial role of pictures in modern society and our need to understand them challenges Media Education to concentrate more intensively on this shift from more text-based to more visual forms of communication. To this end, the following article argues that Objective Hermeneutics can further understanding in this field by extracting latent structures of meaning [latente Sinnstrukturen] and objective structures of significance [objektive Bedeutungsstrukturen; transl. in OEVERMANN et al. 1987].
