Verankerung im Wissen und Bewusstsein von Nicht-Linguistinnen und Nicht-Linguisten. Als Untersuchungspersonen für diese soziolinguistische Untersuchung sind norddeutsche Studierende nicht-linguistischer Studienrichtungen ausgewählt worden, da diese gewissermaßen das Höchstmaß an alltagssprachlicher Standardnähe im deutschen Sprachraum repräsentieren: Sie sind jung, hoch gebildet und in Norddeutschland sozialisiert worden. Es werden Spracheinstellungen und wahrnehmungen dieser Probandinnen und Probanden bezüglich der Heterogenität der deutschen Standardsprache, der Theorie der Plurizentrik des Deutschen und ausgewählter sprachlicher Features eines „österreichischen“ Standarddeutsch erhoben und untersucht. Aus der Analyse zeigt sich unter anderem, dass die Probandinnen und Probanden widersprüchliche Aussagen zur Norm des Deutschen tätigen. Einerseits repräsentiert für sie (Nord )Deutschland die einzige Region im deutschsprachigen Raum, in der Standard gesprochen wird. Andererseits bewerten die Befragten die Standardvarietät Deutschlands nicht als „richtiger“ als die entsprechenden Standardvarietäten aus Österreich und der Schweiz. Über das Konzept der Plurizentrik der deutschen Sprache besteht kein explizites Wissen bei den Probandinnen und Probanden: Sowohl die Konzentration auf (Nord )Deutschland als Region, in der Standard gesprochen wird, als auch die Bewertung von Austriazismen als nicht standardsprachlich zeigt, dass die Plurizentrik nicht in den „Köpfen“ der Befragten verankert ist. Erst bei dezidiertem „Nachfragen“ zeigt sich eine Tendenz zur Zustimmung zum Konzept der Plurizentrik. Österreich gilt für die Probandinnen und Probanden nicht als Region, in der Standarddeutsch gesprochen wird. Vielmehr wird Österreich mit dialektalem Sprechen verbunden, das einerseits unverständlich und andererseits voll mit „lustigen“ Wörtern ist. Standardsprachliche Austriazismen werden als grammatisch inkorrekt bzw. als nicht standardsprachlich bewertet. Mit den Bewertungen dieser Austriazismen hängt die Kenntnis derselben zusammen bzw. die Einschätzung, ob in Österreich wird Hochdeutsch gesprochen. Verbindungen zu und Aufenthalte in Österreich haben hingegen keinen Einfluss auf die Bewertung von standardsprachlichen Varianten Österreichs. ; The following thesis deals with the concept of pluricentricity of the German language, namely its presence and establishment in the minds and consciousness of non-linguists. The subjects of investigation for this sociolinguistic study are students from northern Germany, who do not take any linguistic classes. They have been chosen because they seem to represent the closest form of everyday use of Standard German in the German-speaking world: They are young, highly educated and were raised in the north of Germany. This study will examine the language attitudes and perceptions of these study participants, concerning the heterogeneity of standard German, the theory of pluricentricity in the German language, and selected linguistic features of an “Austrian” Standard German. The analysis shows among other things that the participants of the study make contradictory statements regarding the norm of the German language. On one hand, (northern) Germany represents for them the only region in the German-speaking world, in which Standard German is spoken. On the other hand, the participants don’t perceive Germany’s Standard German as more “correct” than the respective Standard Germans in Austria or Switzerland. Moreover, the participants of the study don’t have any explicit knowledge of the concept of the pluricentricity of the German language. Both the focus on (northern) Germany as the region, in which Standard German is spoken, and the assessment of “Austriacisms” as non-standard speech, imply that pluricentricity is not present in the people’s mind. Only if specifically asked, do the participants of the study show a tendency of acceptance of the concept of pluricentric languages. Lastly, Austria is not considered as a region, in which Standard German is spoken. Instead, the participants of the study link Austria with dialectal speech, which they also find incomprehensible or filled with “amusing” words. Standard-like “Austriacisms” are perceived as not being grammatically correct or as a non-standard German. The assessment of these “Austriacisms” correlates with the knowledge of the same and the presumption that in Austria standard German is spoken. Con-nections or visits to Austria, however, have no influence on the assessment of standard linguistic variants in Austria.
