Abstract: Prior research on the ITL in speech (sequences of syllables) showed that in French, durational cues are not used to the same extent as in English in order to parse the signal into words, while intensity is used in similar ways (Hay & Diehl 2007). This experiment tries to replicate this difference between the languages, and furthermore test how the languages differ with respect to the parsing of prominence. ...
