From quill to T-PEN: palaeography, editing and their e-future
Lowe, K.A.. - 2012
Abstract: This article outlines some recent applications of digital technology to the fields of medieval palaeography and editing, and how they might enable scholars more readily to check and engage with the work of others. It emphasises the importance of interoperability of digital repositories and describes a current initiative which helps to trial and refine generic tools for digital scholarship. It asserts the limitations of a print-based edition for serving multiple scholarly audiences and considers how material rejected from such an edition as irrelevant to one constituency might best be repurposed and redeployed for others.
