A aprendizagem da ortografia sob o viés das práticas interativas ; Orthographic learning from the perspective of interactive practices

Abstract:
; Considering that the learning of the written language, in addition to the discursive reflection, depends on the elaboration of notational aspects, and that the interaction in the classroom affects this process, this research aimed at learning the orthography, contemplating the progression of this acquisition in two axes of approach: the interaction of the child with the adult and the interaction between pairs of students. Using the theoretical framework of psychogenetic and historical-cultural studies (the conception of children as active subjects and protagonists of learning; language as a social practice; and learning as the construction of the individual in relation to lived experiences), this investigation assumed the objective of analyzing the way in which orthographic learning is constituted and how, at different times, interactive practices can generate possibilities for reflection. To this end, the longitudinal case study, carried out with students from a private school in Santos / SP, included five stages between the 2nd and 4th year of elementary school, a period in which the learning of conventional writing becomes one of the main focuses students' reflection. Data collection was performed based on the writing of word dictations and the rewriting of texts, considering both the process and the product of these activities. The data demonstrated that children progress in orthographic performance as they progress in schooling, appropriating direct regularities, contextual regularities and irregularities in writing - usually in that order. In the interaction with the adult, the analysis of the references used for the correction of the writing revealed four categories: the writing justified by the sound score, the validation of the orthography based on someone more experienced (an authorized interlocutor), the support in the visual image of the word and the evocation of the orthographic norm. In the interactions between the children, there were different degrees of reflection based on conflict situations, situations of centralization of referrals by a student and situations of agreements based on linguistic criteria or social agreements. The comparison between types of production revealed that students obtained better spelling results in word dictations than in text rewrites. From the understanding of the learning of spelling and the potential of interactive situations in this process, it was possible to glimpse pedagogical implications that suggest a review of teaching practices.
