Abstract:
This research focuses on the transmission of the French Language in families where the parents made aliyah from France. Aliyah is a special migration, since it concerns only the immigration of Jews to Israel. Impressed with strong representations, aliyah is a migration that can be seen as a "return" by those who make it even though they may never have lived in Israel. Moreover, immigration to Israel can also be marked by Zionist ideologies. Consequently, this singular migratory context can have repercussions on the will of the French olim (a Hebrew word for the new Jewish immigrants in Israel) to transmit or not their language of origin, the French language, to their born children in Israel.The objective of this research, through a microsociolinguistic survey by interviews, is to study the desire to transmit French by olim from France. This desire to transmit French or not is influenced both by the representations and the linguistic, cultural and national identities developed by these immigrants, but also by their life trajectories. The study of this will to transmit French or not is also an opportunity to examine the family language policy elaborated by the witnesses of this investigation and what, according to them, allowed the transmission of French in the Israeli context. Following the analysis of parents' desire for transmission or non-transmission of French language, this thesis also looks at children of the second generation, those to whom French was transmitted. The identities and representations developed by these children raised at the crossroads of several languages and cultures are questioned, as well as the relationship they have with France, French language and French culture. ; Cette recherche porte sur la transmission familiale du français en contexte d’alya. L’alyah est une migration particulière, puisqu’elle concerne uniquement l’immigration de Juifs vers Israël. Empreinte de représentations fortes, l’alyah est une migration qui peut être perçue comme un « retour » par ceux qui l’effectuent même si ces derniers peuvent n’avoir jamais vécu en Israël. De plus, l’immigration vers Israël peut également être marquée par des idéologies sionistes. Dès lors, ce contexte migratoire singulier peut avoir des répercussions sur la volonté des olim (un mot hébreu désignant les nouveaux immigrants juifs en Israël) Français à transmettre ou non leur langue d’origine, à savoir le français, à leurs enfants nés en Israël.L’objectif de cette thèse, à travers une enquête microsociolinguistique par entretiens, est d’étudier le désir d’olim de France de transmettre le français. Ce désir de transmettre ou non le français est influencé à la fois par les représentations et les identités linguistique, culturelle et nationale développées par ces immigrants mais aussi par leur parcours de vie. L’étude de cette volonté de transmettre ou non le français est également l’occasion de se pencher sur la politique linguistique familiale élaborée par les témoins de cette enquête et ce qui, selon eux, a permis la transmission du français dans le contexte israélien. À la suite de l’analyse de ce désir des parents de transmission ou de non-transmission du français, cette thèse se penche également sur les enfants de la deuxième génération, ceux à qui le français a été transmis. Les identités et les représentations développées par ces enfants élevés au carrefour de plusieurs langues et cultures sont questionnées ainsi que le rapport que ces derniers entretiennent avec la France, la langue française et la culture française.
