Des entretiens semi-dirigés ont servi à produire un portrait détaillé des expériences personnelles et de la trajectoire académique, sociale et professionnelle de cette étudiante pour déterminer l’apport et les liens possibles entre les conséquences d’une immersion universitaire et les politiques linguistiques prônées par le Gouvernement du Canada. Les résultats démontrent l’impact d’une expérience d’immersion universitaire sur les compétences linguistiques de l’étudiante mais mettent aussi l’accent sur la construction identitaire découlant du désir d’étudier en français, de s’intégrer à la communauté francophone, et de défendre le bilinguisme comme une valeur permettant de se créer un imaginaire linguistique divers, ouvert aux possibilités d’un Canada bilingue et multilingue. ; This paper reports on the case of a student enrolled in the French Immersion Studies (Régime d’immersion en français, RIF) program at the University of Ottawa. It aims to shed light on this student’s representations and how these are linked to the stated objectives of Canada’s official bilingualism policies. Conducting semi-structured interviews with this student enabled us to produce a detailed picture of her personal experiences and her academic, social, and professional trajectory in order to determine the contribution of university immersion programs and the language policies advocated by the Canadian government, as well as the potential links between their effects. The results show the impact of a university immersion program on the student’s language skills, but they also highlight the identity building that results from the desire to study in French, to integrate into the French-speaking community, and to defend bilingualism as a value that enables the creation of a diverse linguistic imaginary, one that is open to the possibilities of a bilingual and multilingual Canada. ; Este artículo explica el caso de una estudiante inscrita en el Régimen de inmersión en francés (RIF) de la Universidad de Ottawa, con el objetivo de ilustrar las representaciones de esta estudiante y las relaciones que tiene con los objetivos declarados de las políticas del bilingüismo oficial en Canadá. Se ha recurrido a varias entrevistas semidirigidas para realizar un retrato detallado de las experiencias personales y de la trayectoria académica, social y profesional de esta estudiante a fin de determinar el aporte y los vínculos posibles entre las consecuencias de una inmersión universitaria y las políticas lingüísticas que promueve el Gobierno de Canadá. Los resultados demuestran el impacto que tiene una experiencia de inmersión universitaria en las competencias lingüísticas de la estudiante, pero también hacen hincapié en la construcción identitaria que se desprende del deseo de estudiar en francés, de integrarse en la comunidad francófona y de defender el bilingüismo como un valor que permite crearse un imaginario lingüístico diverso, abierto a las posibilidades de una Canadá bilingüe y multilingüe.
