Abstract:
Die vorliegende Arbeit geht der Frage nach, welche Auswirkungen die Franco-Diktatur auf die literarische Übersetzungspraxis in Spanien hatte. Von besonderer Relevanz sind dabei die 1938 und 1966 verabschiedeten Pressegesetze sowie deren Einfluss auf die Transferprozesse und alle darin involvierten Akteure. Um die Frage nach den Auswirkungen der Diktatur auf die literarische Übersetzungspraxis beantworten zu können, wurden insgesamt sieben englischsprachige Werke, die zwischen 1950 und 1974 ins Spanische übersetzt wurden, im Rahmen einer transferorientierten Übersetzungsanalyse untersucht. Die Analyse ergab, dass die ausgewählten Romane aufgrund der kulturellen und intellektuellen Repression unter Franco zum Teil nur erheblich zensiert veröffentlicht werden konnten. Insbesondere sexuelle, religiöse oder politische Inhalte fielen der Zensur zum Opfer. Die Hypothese, dass ab der zweiten Zensurperiode eine Tendenz zur Selbstzensur – etwa durch Autoren, Übersetzer oder Verlage – herrschte, konnte bestätigt werden. ; The main aim of this paper is to find out how literary translation was influenced by the Francoist dictatorship. The two Press Laws passed in 1938 and 1966 and their impact on the literary transfer processes and all involved players are of particular importance. In order to answer the research question, a total of seven books translated from English into Spanish between 1950 and 1974 were examined as part of a transfer-oriented translation analysis. This analysis showed that most novels could only be published heavily censored due to the cultural and intellectual repression of the regime. Especially sexual, religious or political content fell victim to censorship. The hypothesis of increased self-censorship during the second censorship period – for example by authors, translators or publishers – could be confirmed.
