Abstract:
Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας ήταν η μελέτη της «οικογενειακής γλωσσικής πολιτικής» (FLP) των γονέων πρώτης μεταναστευτικής γενιάς στο περιβάλλον της Μ. Βρετανίας και η πιθανή επίδραση αυτής στις διγλωσσικές δεξιότητες των παιδιών. Η ερευνητική αξία της παρούσας έρευνας εδράζεται στη μελέτη της FLP σε μία γλωσσική ομάδα γονέων η οποία δεν έχει προηγουμένως μελετηθεί στις αντίστοιχες κοινωνιογλωσσικές συνθήκες (οικογένειες στις οποίες και οι δύο γονείς έχουν ελληνική καταγωγή και είναι μετανάστες πρώτης γενιάς και μεικτές γλωσσικά οικογένειες στις οποίες ο ένας γονέας είναι ελληνικής καταγωγής και μετανάστης πρώτης γενιάς στη Μ. Βρετανία)· στη μελέτη της FLP σε σχέση με τις γλωσσικές πρακτικές και το οικογενειακό μοντέλο γλωσσικής χρήσης, τις γλωσσικές ιδεολογίες και στάσεις των γονέων, αλλά και τις πρακτικές γλωσσικής διαχείρισης εντός και εκτός σπιτιού· στη μελέτη της FLP σε σχέση με τις διγλωσσικές δεξιότητες των παιδιών τόσο στον προφορικό όσο και στον γραπτό λόγο· τέλος, στη μελέτη της FLP τόσο σε σχέση με ... : The purpose of this research study was studying “family language policy” (FLP) of the first generation immigrant parents in the UK environment and the possible effect of FLP on children’s bilingual skills. The value of this study is based in the investigation of FLP in a linguistic group of parents which has not previously been studied under respective sociolinguistic conditions (families in which both parents are of greek origin and mixed-lingual families in which one parent is a first generation immigrant of greek origin in UK). More explicitly, we studied FLP in relation to parents’ language practices and family language use models, ideologies and attitudes, but also in relation to family language management practices inside and outside home. We also studied FLP in relation to children’s oral bilingual and biliteracy skills.
