Abstract:
International audience ; Systematic tone alternations can be observed in the Geji language as spoken in Geji itself and Pelu, two villages situated at the foot of the Zaranda mountain in Bauchi State (Nigeria). This type of tone variation has been documented in other Chadic languages, e.g Kotoko and Ngamo. This paper aims at documenting this variation and accounting systematically for it with a set of simple phonological rules.
