	Abstract: International audience ; Catchphrases are growing in importance in political communication. We propose to analyze their birth and appropriation by the public by focusing on the ethos. Catchphrases actually help to build the self-image of politicians and they allow strategies of subversion on social networks. This study will be articulated in two phases. We will analyze two “catchphrases” spoken by Emmanuel Macron and Jean-Luc Mélenchon and we will show how the ethos explains this re-categorization. Then we will highlight the fact that the circulation of these catchphrases generates a stabilization of the image of speaker. ; Les petites phrases occupent une place croissante dans la communication politique. Nous nous proposons d'en analyser la naissance et l'appropriation par le public en nous intéressant au rôle joué par l'ethos dans leur construction, que nous pensons prépondérant. Cet objet contribue en effet à construire l'image de soi des femmes et hommes politiques, et font l'objet sur les réseaux sociaux de stratégies de subversion originales. Nous procéderons en deux temps. En analysant deux énoncés recatégorisés en « petite phrase », l'un d'Emmanuel Macron et l'autre de Jean-Luc Mélenchon, nous montrerons que la manière dont l'ethos des locuteurs s'y inscrit et s'y construit explique cette recatégorisation. Puis, nous mettrons en lumière la stabilisation de l'image des locuteurs engendrée par la circulation de ces « petites phrases ».
