Abstract: Theory of mind (ToM) is understood as children’s understanding of mental phenomena such as thoughts, beliefs, or surprises and how these shape human behavior. A landmark in the development of a ToM represents the understanding of false beliefs, which typically develops between the age of 3 and 5 years (Wellman, Cross, & Watson, 2001). Recent research has highlighted the importance of early social experiences in the development of children’s theory of mind (Hughes & Devine, 2015). Several studies conducted in the USA and the UK suggest that family conversational patterns are linked with children’ rates of acquiring Theory of mind (Brown, Donelan-McCall, & Dunn, 1996; Brown & Dunn, 1991; Dunn, 1994, 1995, 1996; Dunn & Hughes, 1998; Hughes & Cutting, 1999). Mental state talk (MST) refers to the frequency of using nouns, verbs and adjectives that refer to the individuals own or someone else’s mental state such as feelings, desires and thoughts (Lecce, Ceccato, & Cavallini, 2017). ...
