Conflitti linguistici nella Dieta provinciale della Contea principesca di Gorizia e Gradisca (1861–1910)

Abstract:
Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht anhand der stenographischen Berichte des Landtags von Görz und Gradisca zwischen 1861 und 1910 das Auftreten von Sprach- und Nationalkonflik-ten. Diese Sprach- bzw. Nationalkonflikte fanden auf zwei Ebenen statt: Zum einen zwischen ItalienerInnen und SlowenInnen innerhalb der Grafschaft Görz und Gradisca, zum anderen auch zwischen der Grafschaft als italienisch-slowenischer Peripherie und dem deutschsprachi-gen Wien als Machtzentrum der gesamten österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie. Die Arbeit zeigt einerseits die zunehmende Emanzipation des Slowenischen gegenüber dem Italienischen, anderseits aber auch die fortschreitende Radikalisierung des nationalen und sprachlichen Zwiespalts. Die Auswertung der stenographischen Berichte erfolgt sowohl auf inhaltlicher als auch auf diskursanalytischer Ebene. Dabei wird gezeigt, dass sich sowohl die italienischen als auch die slowenischen Abgeordneten ungeachtet ihrer unterschiedlichen Machtposition ähnlicher Argumentationsstrategien bedienen. Denn den meisten Abgeordneten geht es nicht um die objektive Beurteilung der nationalen und sprachlichen Verhältnisse, sondern treten sie viel-mehr als Kämpfer und Verfechter der eigenen Nation auf und es wird jene Argumentation-stechnik verwendet, mit der man am ehesten zum Ziel kommt: Macht. ; The present thesis examines the occurrence of national and linguistic conflicts between 1861 and 1910 on the basis of the stenographic reports of the Provincial Diet of Gorizia and Gradisca. These conflicts took place on two levels: on the one hand between Italians and Slovenes within the county of Gorizia and Gradisca, on the other hand between the county as Italian-Slovenian periphery and the German-speaking Vienna as the center of power for the entire Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The thesis shows on the one hand the increasing emancipation of Slovene from Italian, on the other hand also the progressive radicalization of the national and linguistic conflict. The analysis of the stenographic reports is carried out on both the content and the discourse-analytical level. It shows that both the Italian and the Slovenian representatives use similar argumentative strategies, regardless of their different positions of power. After all, most representatives are not interested in the objective assessment of national and linguistic relations, but rather appear as fighters and advocates of their own nation and use the argumentation technique which is most likely to help them reach their goal: power.
