Aprendizaje escolar y percepción de competencia lingüística en alumnos de origen inmigrante ; School learning and perception of linguistic competence among students of immigrant origin

Abstract:
La adquisición de un nivel de competencia lingüística suficiente para seguir los aprendizajes escolares constituye uno de los aspectos de mayor importancia para que el alumnado de procedencia inmigrante pueda completar los niveles obligatorios de enseñanza. Es por ello que en este trabajo pretendemos examinar la percepción que el alumnado autóctono e inmigrante tiene de su competencia lingüística en gallego y castellano y analizar en qué medida esta percepción se relaciona con su trayectoria académica. Para ello realizamos un estudio comparativo de las variables objeto de estudio diferenciando al alumnado nacional (n=1.061) del inmigrante (n=332) tratando con ello de comprobar si entre ambos grupos se producen diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Los análisis realizados nos permiten constatar, de una parte, que el alumnado procedente de la inmigración percibe que tiene una menor competencia lingüística en gallego que en castellano y, de otra, que cuando se trata del castellano las respuestas de ambos grupos apuntan a la disposición de una buena competencia lingüística, si bien los resultados académicos del alumnado no nacional indican que tienen mayores dificultades para superar los cursos de la educación obligatoria ; The acquisition of a sufficient level of linguistic competence to follow school lessons is one of the most important aspects, so that students of immigrant origin can complete the compulsory stages of education. That is why, this work is aimed at examining the perception that native and immigrant students have of their linguistic competence in Galician and Spanish, and at analyzing to what extent this perception is related to their educational path. To this end, a comparative study of the variables is performed, distinguishing between native (n = 1061) and immigrant students (n = 332), attempting to check whether there are statistically significant differences between both groups. The conducted analyses reveal, on the one hand, that students of immigrant origin perceive that they have less linguistic competence in Galician than in Castilian Spanish and, on the other, that when it comes to Castilian Spanish both groups think they are linguistically competent.
