Abstract: The entry of performance art into the body of academic research issues can be seen as a new stage in its institutionalization. Over the past two decades, this phenomenon has become blatant and is often criticized by those interested in this art form. Where and when were the points of tension between institution and performance art (a kind of practice resisting all fixed forms of life) created? What are the ways of institutionalization of performance art and what are its forms of resistance to this process? What does performance art itself institutionalize and for what purpose? If the performance art has exhausted its aesthetic and militant capacities, what forms of activity could adopt its results? The thesis is built on the classical opposition of reality and language. Its first part studies examples of artist’s reactions to the empirical and transcendent reality from the post-war era to the present day. The second part questions the linguistic modalities of the institutionalization of performance art through the case study method and the method of content analysis as well. The third part differs methodologically from the previous two parts, which are based on the analysis of general performance art processes. It is devoted to the study of the art of performance in Soviet and post-Soviet Russia which helps to unveil the non-conventional history of this form of art as well as reveal the historical and social context of my own artistic work. ; L’entrée de l’art de la performance dans le corpus des problématiques de la recherche académique peut être considérée comme une nouvelle étape de son institutionnalisation. Au cours des deux dernières décennies, ce phénomène est devenu flagrant et souvent critiqué par ceux qui s’intéressent à cette forme d’art. Où et quand se créent les points de tension entre l’institution et la performance, cette pratique résistant à toutes les formes figées de la vie ? Quels sont les voies d’institutionnalisation de la performance et quelles sont les formes de résistance à ce processus ? Qu’est-ce que la performance institutionnalise elle-même et dans quel but ? Si la performance a épuisé ces capacités esthétiques et militantes, quelles formes d’activités pourraient reprendre ces acquis ? La thèse est construite sur l’opposition classique de la réalité et du langage. Sa première partie étudie des exemples de réactions artistiques face à la réalité empirique et transcendante de l’époque d’après-guerre et jusqu’à nos jours. La seconde partie interroge les modalités linguistiques de l’institutionnalisation de la performance à travers la méthode d’étude de cas mais convoquant également la méthode de l’analyse du contenu. La troisième partie se distingue méthodologiquement des deux parties précédentes, fondées sur l’analyse des processus généraux de l’art de la performance. Elle est consacrée à l’étude de la performance en Russie soviétique et post-soviétique et permet ainsi de dévoiler l’histoire non scolaire de cette forme d’art et de révéler le contexte historique et social de mon propre travail artistique.
