Abstract:
Words for All (W4All) is a follow-up intervention of an earlier EEF-funded intervention that aims to encourage schools to use evidence-based interventions to support care-experienced (CSC-experienced) pupils with lower levels of vocabulary development. The logic model of W4All includes: (i) working directly with teachers by training and mentoring them in using robust evidence to inform their practice, (ii) raising teachers' awareness and understanding on how to source and apply evidence-based, best practice to tackle identified factors that may hinder language acquisition for the target group, and (iii) upskilling teachers to identify and selecting the best fit of teaching methods for their context. This independent evaluation looks to evaluate W4All, and assess how successful the intervention is in improving the reading and attainment outcomes specifically for CSC-experienced children using a randomised controlled trial (RCT).
