Die Ziele der Untersuchung sind: Verdeutlichung der Komplexität der Lernanforderungen, vor allem im Hinblick auf sprachanalytische Leistungen, wie z.B. die Zuordnung gesprochener und geschriebener Wörter in einem Satz und die Segmentierung eines gesprochenen Satzes in einzelne Wörter; Aufzeigen der Entwicklung des Wortbegriffs und der Konzepte vom Lesen und Schreiben; Sichtbarmachung verschiedener Strategien der Verschriftung auf Satzebene (bislang wurde vorallem die Wortebene untersucht); Beobachtung von Kindern, die entdeckend, d.h. ohne systematischen Lehrgang, schreiben lernen, und von Kindern, die nach einem herkömmlichen Lehrgang unterrichtet werden; Erprobung von Untersuchungsverfahren, die bislang nur im angloamerikanischen Raum eingesetzt worden sind.
