Abstract:
Version avant relecture ; International audience ; The present article deals with the question of the respect of the 17th c. French graphic systems in editions of the first half of the 18th c. With the natural evolution of the language, the apparition of an orthographic norm and the development of the philological respect of the literary work, ecdotic choices begin to be discussed by editors of 17th c. French literature. We examine theoretical texts produced by Jolly for his edition of Molière’s works, Saint-Marc for his edition of Boileau’s works and Louis Racine on a future edition of the works of his father Jean. A rapid analysis of the language of the edition allows us to confront the declarations of intent of editors to their practice. ; Le présent article revient sur le respect des systèmes graphiques du xviie s. dans les éditions de la première moitié du xviiie s. Avec l’évolution de la langue, l’apparition d’une norme orthographique et le développement du respect philologique de l’œuvre, les choix ecdotiques commencent à être discutés par les éditeurs de littérature du Grand Siècle. Nous examinons les textes théoriques produits par Jolly pour son édition des œuvres de Molière, Saint-Marc pour son édition des œuvres de Boileau et Louis Racine sur une future édition des œuvres de son père Jean. Une analyse rapide de la langue des imprimés permet de confronter les déclarations d’intention des éditeurs à leur pratique.
