Our discussion is based on two studies in which most participants were deaf (one study also included hearing participants). We primarily offer a methodological contribution to the discussion around LP, since we argue that the study of linguistic repertoires of signers takes the multimodal aspect of the method to a new level. Indeed, by separating modalities (speech, signing, writing), grouping languages in different ways, and mapping them on the LP, the LP discussed in this article represent multimodal languaging more explicitly than in previous studies. Furthermore, by locating particular signs on the LP, several participants literally mapped their body when signing and gesturing in their narratives, thus performing and becoming their language portrait. We suggest that the study of body language (signing/gesturing/pointing) in the verbal narrations accompanying the LP thus expands the multimodal aspect of the analysis of LP. ; In diesem Beitrag befassen wir uns mit der Nutzung von Sprachportraits (SP) als einer Methodik zur Untersuchung körperlicher multilingualer Repertoires von Menschen, die sowohl Laut- als auch Gebärdensprachen verwenden. Hierzu ziehen wir Ergebnisse aus zwei Studien heran, in denen die meisten Teilnehmenden taub waren; nur in einer Studie nahmen auch Hörende teil. Unser Beitrag ist insoweit methodologisch, als wir zu zeigen versuchen, dass die Erforschung linguistischer Repertoire durch die multimodalen Aspekte der SP grundlegend erneuert werden kann. Indem wir Modalitäten (Sprechen, Gebärden, Schreiben) und Sprachen differenzieren und mittels der SP abzubilden versuchen, können multimodale Sprachen sehr viel expliziter adressiert werden als in früheren Studien. Während spezifische Gebärden in den SP lokalisiert wurden, haben einige Teilnehmende ihre Körper in ihren gebärdeten Erzählungen buchstäblich abgebildet, sodass Sprachportraits zugleich Darstellung und Wirklichkeit bedeuteten. Wir gehen davon aus, dass die Untersuchung von Körpersprachen (Gebärden, Gesten, Zeigen) in den verbalen Narrationen, die die Gestaltung der SP begleiten, wesentlich zu zusätzlichem analytischen Wissen beitragen.
