Abstract:
Discursive analysis of remarks deemed sexist, misogynistic in a media context"All the whores are misses", "this dream butt", "let them go back to their cleaning!","what a gorgeous bottom", here are some examples of broadcat remarks on the television and radio broadcasts that have been judged sexist by Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel. This thesis presents the different discursive forms of gender and gender discrimination in the media context. Based on the decisions of Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel, the study falls within the field of media discourse analysis and cultural studies on gender (cultural studies) and language (Gender and Language Studies). The media word raises the question of the responsibility of the speeches diffused in the public space. Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel, in the report of its decisions, uses various formulas to report objective criteria to cite the discriminations related to sex and gender: "stereotyped representations", "degrading images", "vulgar". In order to reveal a whole discriminating system, this work proposes a non-logocentric discourse analysis integrating images and mise-en-scenes as environment participating in the construction of representations and collective gendered practices. The media factory of sexist discourses is first of all a discursive categorization revealing organic reductions of the parts of the female body and secondly in the scenography and editing produced by the production. The fragmented body of women in misogynistic sexist discourse symbolizes a materialized body, accessible to all in the mise-scenes of television productions. Symbolic-inert body, the female body is the support of all sorts of stories; body without unique identity, it reflects a collective-passive picture, that of all women. Infantilized, humiliated, discredited, or conversely complimented repeatedly (insistent flattering speeches), the speech and representation of the woman and the female body appear stereotypically in axiologically located to standards and cultural representations collectively shared. On the other hand, the construction of misogynistic sexist discourses is a process of performativity where everyone participates in the implementation of discriminatory standards; the symbolic reality is drawning on the physical reality, the bodies are modified to fit with the discourses of the modelbodies so much stated. This thesis is motivated to bring a new perspective on media responsibility and to point out unequal discursive systems produced and disseminated by public media bodies. ; Analyse discursive de propos jugés sexistes misogynesen contexte médiatique« Toutes les putes sont des miss », « ce boule de rêve », « qu’ellesretournent à leur casseroles ! », « tromblon extraordinaire », voici desexemples de propos diffusés dans les émissions télévisuelles etradiophoniques qui ont été jugées sexistes par le Conseil Supérieur del’Audiovisuel. Cette thèse présente les différentes formes discursives dediscrimination de genre et de sexe en contexte médiatique. S’appuyant surles décisions du Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel français, l’études’inscrit dans le domaine de l’analyse du discours médiatique et les étudesculturelles sur le genre (culturals studies) et le langage (Gender andLanguage Studies). La parole médiatique pose la question de laresponsabilité des discours diffusés dans l’espace public. Le ConseilSupérieur de l’Audiovisuel, dans le compte-rendu de ses décisions, utilisediverses formules afin de rendre compte de critères objectifs pour citer lesdiscriminations liées au sexe et au genre : « représentations stéréotypées »,« images dégradantes », « vulgaires ». Afin de mettre à jour tout un systèmediscriminant, ce travail propose une analyse des discours non logocentréeintégrant les images et les mises en scènes comme environnementparticipant à la construction de représentations et pratiques genréescollectives. La fabrique médiatique des discours sexistes s’effectue d’abordpar une catégorisation discursive révélant des réductions organiques desparties du corps féminin et d’autre part dans la scénographie et les montagesréalisés par la production. Le corps morcelé de la femme dans les discourssexistes misogynes symbolise un corps matérialisé, accessible à tou·te·sdans les mises en scènes des productions télévisuelles. Le corps féminin estle support de toutes sortes de récits ; corps sans identité propre il représenteun collectif-passif, celui de l’ensemble des femmes. Infantilisées, humiliées,discréditées, ou à l’inverse complimentées à répétition (discours flatteursinsistants), la parole et la représentation de la femme et du corps fémininapparaissent de manières stéréotypées dans des mises en scènes situéesaxiologiquement en fonction de normes et représentations culturellespartagées collectivement. D’autre part, la construction des discours sexistesmisogynes relève d’un processus de performativité où chacun·e participe àla mise-en-œuvre de normes discriminantes ; la réalité symbolique sedessine sur la réalité physique, les corps se modifient pour s’approprier auxdiscours des corps-modèles tant énoncés. Cette thèse a pour motivationd’apporter un regard nouveau sur la responsabilité médiatique et de pointerdes systèmes discursifs inégalitaires produits et diffusés par des instancespubliques médiatiques.
