Aplicação da prova de vocabulário do ABFW: teste de linguagem infantil em crianças dos 5 aos 7 anos com e sem perturbações da linguagem: um estudo exploratório no distrito do Porto

Abstract:
Dissertação de mestrado em Educação Especial (área de especialização em Dificuldades de Aprendizagem Específicas) ; O vocabulário corresponde ao léxico que pode ser emitido pela criança, e pode ser avaliado pelo número de palavras que a criança é capaz de proferir. Assim, a eficácia do uso de instrumentos padronizados para a avaliação do vocabulário precocemente, pode ajudar na deteção de dificuldades ao nível da linguagem. Com este estudo, pretende-se avaliar o desempenho evidenciado ao nível do vocabulário em crianças entre os 5 e os 7 anos de idade com e sem perturbações da linguagem. A amostra é constituída por 80 crianças, 30 do ensino pré-escolar, e 50 do 1º ciclo do ensino básico, sendo 58,75% do género feminino e 41,25% do género masculino. Neste estudo foi aplicada a prova do vocabulário do teste de linguagem - ABFW (Andrade, Befi – Lopes, Fernandes, & Wertzner, 2004) versão adaptada para Português Europeu (PE). Assim, os resultados permitem concluir que: a) as raparigas apresentaram um desempenho superior no vocabulário total da prova relativamente aos rapazes; b) verificou-se que as crianças dos 5 anos apresentaram um desempenho inferior relativamente às de 6 e 7 anos na aquisição do vocabulário total da prova nos vários campos; c) as crianças que residem em áreas predominantemente urbanas apresentam um desempenho superior na prova do vocabulário; d) verifica-se um aumento progressivo no desempenho total da prova do vocabulário de acordo com a aquisição superior ao nível das habilitações académicas dos encarregados de educação; e) as crianças sem perturbação da linguagem apresentam resultados superiores às crianças com perturbação da linguagem nos campos conceptuais da prova com exceção de “meios de transporte”, em que se verificou que as crianças com perturbação da linguagem evidenciam um ligeiro desempenho superior; e f) o campo “locais” apresenta o desempenho mais baixo da prova comparativamente a “móveis e utensílios” que apresenta o desempenho mais elevado em todas as faixas etárias. A prova do vocabulário do teste de linguagem - ABFW apresentou bons níveis de consistência interna (α=.92), através de resultados obtidos pelo Alpha de Cronbach, e revela ter potencialidades como instrumento de avaliação do vocabulário, nomeadamente na identificação precoce de problemas na linguagem. ; The vocabulary corresponds to the lexicon that can be produced by the child, and can be assessed by the number of words that the child produces. Thus, the effectiveness of using standardized tools for early vocabulary assessment can contribute to the detection of language difficulties. This study intends to assess the performance of vocabulary in children between 5 and 7 years of age with and without language disorders. The sample consisted of 80 children, 30 from Preschool, and 50 from the Elementary level, where 58.75% corresponds to the female gender, and 41.25% to the male gender. In exploratory study the European Portuguese (PE) version of the vocabular measure of the language test - ABFW (Andrade, Befi - Lopes, Fernandes, & Wertzner, 2004) was used. The results of the study show that: a) the girls presented better total vocabulary performance of the measure than the boys; b) 5-year-old children, with a lower performance in comparison with the age group of 6 and 7 years in terms of total vocabulary acquisition; c) children predominantly living in urban areas they have better performance in vocabulary test; d) in relation to the parents academic qualification is observed a progressive increase in total vocabulary performance according to the highest qualification regarding the parents academic qualification levels; e) children without language impairment present better results than children with language impairment in conceptual fields of the test with exception to field of “transportation”, where it was found that children with language impairment showed a superior performance; and f) the field of "places" had lower performance, compared to “ furniture and utensils” that had higher values, in all age groups. The vocabulary measure– ABFW presented good levels of internal consistency (α = .92), according to Cronbach's Alpha, and reveals its potentialities as a vocabulary assessment tool, in relation to early identification of language disorders.
