In: Publications (2017) BASE Show details 29 Lehrererwartungen und Talent im Fremdsprachenunterricht Riegler, Veronika. - 2017 Abstract: In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Fremdsprachenlerneignung mit dem Phänomen der Lehrererwartungen in Zusammenhang gebracht, um damit eine existierende Forschungslücke zu schließen. Nach einem Überblick über die zugrundeliegende Theorie des Sprachtalents und einschlägiger aktueller Studien, folgt eine empirische Untersuchung zu möglichen Zusammenhängen zwischen dem Sprachtalent und Lehrererwartungen. 47 SchülerInnen aus vier verschiedenen Französischklassen nahmen an Sprachtalentstests teil, um ihre Ergebnisse mit den Erwartungen der Lehrpersonen zu vergleichen. Zwei Französischlehrerinnen wurden zuerst zu ihren Einstellungen gegenüber dem Konzept des Sprachtalents befragt und gaben anschließend an, wie viele Punkte sie von den Lernenden in den verschiedenen Testteilen der Sprachtalentstests erwarteten. Die Ergebnisse wurden in einem beschreibenden statistischen Analyseverfahren ausgewertet, wobei zwar teilweise nennenswerte Übereinstimmungen der Angaben der Lehrerinnen mit den Testresultaten festgestellt werden konnten, signifikante Abweichungen jedoch überwogen, welche eine geringfügige Tendenz der Lehrerinnen zur Unterschätzung erkennen ließen. ; There is an ongoing interest in the study of foreign language aptitude. This paper tries to relate language learning talent to the phenomenon of teacher expectations in order to close an existing research gap. A review of the theoretical grounds and of recent studies into the field of language aptitude research is followed by an empirical examination of possible connections between language aptitude and teacher expectations. 47 students of French as a foreign language sat language aptitude tests for a comparison with teachers’ expectations. Two French-as-a-foreign-language teachers were interviewed about their attitudes towards the concept of foreign language aptitude and were asked to indicate how many points they expected the students to attain in the tests. The results were analysed in a descriptive statistical procedure and, while notable overlaps between teachers’ expectations and students’ test results could be shown, significant deviations were identified as well, revealing a slight tendency to underestimate foreign language students.
